Changing an FTP Login Password

This article describes how to change the password for your FTP login account. Updating your FTP login is especially important after a security incident or suspected credential exposure.

Tip: If you suspect your credentials have been exposed, consider changing your primary account password as well. The primary account login provides SFTP access, so updating only the FTP password may not fully address the risk. See Changing Your Account Password.

FTP logins are not available for all hosting packages. To determine whether FTP logins are included with your account, review your hosting package details.

Choose the tutorial that reflects your ACC interface type: 

• Legacy Interface
• New ACC Interface

If you are using the Legacy Interface:

1. Log into the Account Control Center (ACC) at my.pair.com
2. Click Advanced
3. Click Manage Additional FTP Logins
4. Enter the new password in the Password and Confirm Password fields
5. Click Update Information

If you are using the New ACC Interface:

1. Log into the Account Control Center (ACC) at my.pair.com
2. In the top navigation bar, click Hosting
3. In the “Site Management” section, click Manage FTP Users 
4. Find your FTP user and click Edit 
5. Enter the new password in the Password and Confirm Password fields
6. Click Update Information

Changing your FTP password may interrupt FTP or SFTP sessions. After the password is updated, applications, scripts, and FTP clients using the previous password must be updated to prevent authentication failures.
